My name is JT Wilkins, JTW for short. I kinda hate these about pages because I never know exactly what to say. All I can really say is that I’m a Cartoonist (Sequential Artist for you brainy folks)/Designer/ Producer/ and I dabble in all sorts of other arts. I’d rather just say I’m an artist, but these days people would like you to be a bit more specific considering anyone who can create something worth paying attention to, can be classified as an artist.
I can go on and on about the subject.
I’m sure you’ve come to this page because you’ve checked out some of my art and went, WTF!!?!? It’s all good. A bit of history. I’ve been drawing since I was 4 where I seemed more interested in drawing on the white sleek inside boards of my coloring books, than actually coloring. From there I graduated into mimicking the 25 cent Archie comics and Tv cartoon books I bought on the weekends, stealing the poses, and replacing the characters with my own. My teen years graduated me to Heavy Metal magazine, EVO collections at the library, Image, NBM catalogues, EC back issues, and Milestone comics.(Mix in there DC and Marvel Comics). I published my first comic Lunchbox, locally in 2004. Did I sell any? A few here and there it was my first and my style was very very crusty. The next year followed with Prologue (a free comic I distributed) , Sandpaper, Tuned In, Ninja Girl, then my favorite Black Dayz. I see 2004-2009 as my learning years. I did a few artworks for folks and worked with some cool people.
I’m now currently as of 2011 still publishing with various independent publishers. I’m working on a lot of projects here and there as you can see from perusing my site.
